Dominic Solanke set to be OUT for the season with hamstring injury in another major blow to Tottenham – days after Xavi Simons tore his ACL in the same game

Dominic Solanke is set to miss the remainder of the season in another heavy injury blow to relegation-threatened Tottenham.

Solanke hobbled off after 40 minutes during Tottenham’s win against Wolves on Saturday, which helped them keep apace with relegation rivals West Ham who earned a last-gasp victory over Everton.

The England international started the game after an injury-hit campaign that has seen him make just 20 appearances in all competitions. He returned from a lengthy ankle issue in January, but is now set for another spell on the sidelines.

Daily Mail Sport understands Solanke’s season is now over, with scans revealing a hamstring tear that is set to keep the forward on the sidelines for approximately three to eight weeks.

Spurs and Roberto De Zerbi are unlikely to rule him out for the season officially, given he could theoretically make a recovery in time, but it is most likely the Italian will be without Solanke for the remainder of the campaign.

The forward has also been in the running to be Harry Kane‘s understudy at the World Cup this summer for England, having been competing with Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the latest camp.

Solanke’s hopes of making it to North America are now under threat, with the competition just 44 days away.

The England star joins the likes of Xavi Simons on the injury list at Spurs, with the midfielder out until 2027 after injuring his ACL in the same game.

Simons had been a key man for Roberto De Zerbi since the Italian’s arrival at the club and scored a stunning goal in the 2-2 draw with Brighton last weekend.

His absence will be felt as Spurs battle for survival in the Premier League. The victory at Wolves was not enough to lift them out of the drop zone after Callum Wilson scored a stoppage-time winner for West Ham against Everton.

In a statement on Instagram, Simons said: ‘They say life can be cruel and today it feels that way. My season has come to an abrupt end and I’m just trying to process it. Honestly, I’m heartbroken. None of it makes sense.

‘All I’ve wanted to do is fight for my team and now the ability to do that has been snatched away from me… along with the World Cup. Representing my country this summer…just gone. It’ll take time to find peace with this, but I’ll continue to be the best teammate I can be. I have no doubt that together we’ll win this fight.

‘I’ll walk this path now, guided by faith, with strength, with resilience, with belief, as I count down the days to getting back out there.’

Also out for the rest of the campaign is club captain Cristian Romero, with the likes of Mohammed Kudus, Guglielmo Vicario and Dejan Kulusevski on the sidelines too.
