Joelinton has joined Eddie Howe in calling on Newcastle’s owners to deliver a world-class infrastructure that will showcase the club’s ambition.
The Brazilian has been at the club since before the Saudi-led takeover of 2021 and has seen improvement on and off the pitch.
However, the ownership have delayed announcements on a new stadium and training ground and, after more than four years, there is a feeling that 2026 must bring progress if Newcastle are to become ‘No.1 in the world’, as is their stated ambition.
Howe said last week that he wants the hierarchy to end a sense of ‘limbo’ when it comes to those off-field projects, and Joelinton agrees.
‘The team wants to be one of the best in the world,’ he said. ‘For that, you have to be the best in the world in every respect, with the training ground, with everything to help the players to deliver their best selves on the pitch.
‘But I do think the club is going in the right direction. It is not easy to build something like that overnight. The club has made a lot of improvements since I came here. It is going in the right direction, I just hope that in the future we can be the best in the world with everything, the training ground and the stadium.’

Joelinton made a scoring return to the team after injury during Tuesday’s 3-1 win at Burnley and he believes 2026 can see Newcastle recover their league form. They are currently 10th in the table.
‘I think we have great players here,’ he said. ‘Players that have been here a long time, and they have brought success to the club as well.
‘We know we have been very inconsistent this season, but I believe in the squad and believe in everyone here. I think we have a great team, great characters and I think we can turn this season around and be successful.
‘Every game has to be a fight now. That has to be our mentality going into 2026. Every game is like a final, and you have to give your best. We will fight for every ball, for every game.
‘I know when I am at my best, I can help the team in different ways. I hope I can be back at my best levels fitness-wise and play my best football to help the team.’
