Manchester United are discussing a double move for West Ham pair Mateus Fernandes and winger Crysencio Summerville.

Paris Saint-Germain have also discussed both players but also have other targets they are working on.

United have made midfielder Fernandes a priority and have Netherlands international Summerville in their sights too.

Key will be the price as West Ham want up to £140million for the pair but United will be looking to pay considerably less.

United still want to add another midfielder once Manuel Ugarte departs, plus cover in defence and in goal.

Crysencio Summerville, pictured here after scoring for the Netherlands against Japan, is of interest for Manchester United

Summerville scored a superb goal for the Netherlands in their World Cup opener against Japan on Monday.

The winger was given the nod to start by Ronald Koeman on the right side and repaid the manager’s faith with a bright performance.

He was one of the shining lights for the Hammers in the Premier League despite their hugely disappointing campaign.

The 24-year-old managed five goals and two assists in the top flight in his first season having joined from Leeds.

Summerville cost West Ham £25million and they are looking to secure a significant profit, as with Fernandes.

United switched their sights from Man City target Elliot Anderson to Fernandes, and it’s understood that they have moved ahead of Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid in the race for the 21-year-old.

United have yet to make a formal bid, but there have been discussions with the player’s camp and it’s believed that personal terms will not be a problem.

Although Fernandes was left out of Portugal’s World Cup squad, he is rated as one of the most exciting midfield prospects in Europe.

United have already spent £39m to sign Ederson from Atalanta, and could be in the market for another midfielder if Manuel Ugarte follows Casemiro out of Old Trafford this summer.

Daily Mail Sport revealed last month that the club are looking at making three additions in midfield in the £80m, £40m and £20m price brackets.

United are assessing a number of candidates but again key will be valuation with the likes of Fulham‘s Sander Berge, a player previously considered by United, back on the radar.

Marcus Rashford’s future is still to be resolved also after his loan at Barcelona officially ended with the club failing to trigger the £26m option they had for June 15.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Aston Villa have been credited with interest.
