Arsenal suffer MAJOR blow as Martin Odegaard leaves the Emirates in a KNEE BRACE in yet another injury blow for the Gunners captain

Arsenal face a major injury scare after Martin Odegaard required a knee brace following their 2-0 victory over West Ham — his third injury in less than two months.

The Gunners captain went down with discomfort in his left knee in the opening 20 minutes of the match.

He called for medical attention and returned to the pitch, but 10 minutes later had to be substituted off and looked distraught.

It follows two separate injuries to his right shoulder this season — against Nottingham Forest and Leeds — before his start against Olympiacos midweek where the Norwegian put in man of the match display.

Odegaard has now been forced off injured before half-time in all three games he has started at the Emirates this season.

Arteta said: ‘I think he had a clash knee-to-knee, and immediately he was uncomfortable.

‘I just spoke to him — he’s not positive about it, he’s got a brace on. We’ll have to wait and see from the doctors, but we haven’t been very lucky with that either.

‘We haven’t had him since the start of the season for one reason or the other, the shoulder twice and then this injury.

‘He’s our captain and a player that gives us a completely different dimension with the things that he can do, especially in attack. Let’s wait, and hopefully it’s not that bad.’

Declan Rice, who opened the scoring, also had to be substituted off, on 79 minutes, after suffering back pain.

‘He’s not alright because he asked me to come off, so that’s a shame,’ said Arteta.

‘He had pain in his back and he could not carry on, which is something very unusual for Declan, so we’ll have to assess him and see how he is.’

Bukayo Saka became just the second man to score on their 200th Premier League appearance, following Thierry Henry.

The legendary striker had messaged him in the morning of the match with a reminder of Arsenal’s Emirates record against the Hammers.

Saka said: ‘Thierry messaged me this morning to remind we lost the last two games to West Ham at home. He is always pushing me. I am really happy to have my name with his records.’
