Micah Richards has revealed he left the group chat at CBS Sports because he was ‘bored’ of being in ‘too many groups’ and tired of the ‘nonsense.’
Richards joins fellow pundits Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry and presenter Kate Scott to cover Champions League matches for viewers in the United States when the competition is being played.
Though also providing analysis, the show has regularly received plaudits for its laid-back approach to its coverage which sees those on-screen regularly trade banter and humorous insults.
On this occasion, though, a more serious situation was teased as Carragher demanded to know why Richards had left the team group chat over a month ago.
‘What about the group chat?’ Carragher asked during the channel’s Tuesday night coverage, which featured Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Barcelona.
Richards egged his colleague on, replying: ‘Come on, come on.’

After Scott and Carragher revealed the viewers that the former England defender had left their group chat, it was down to Richards to explain why he made the move.
‘You know what, because I was in too many groups,’ he said. ‘And there was all sorts of nonsense in the group, and it was boring me. That was all.’
As Henry drew a blank stare, Carragher responded: ‘So your friends bore you?’
Richards jokingly said: ‘Well, I wouldn’t call you friends… associates,’ triggering laughs from the crew.
Scott then intervened: ‘What was it, October 25 when you left?’ As Henry added: ‘Wow, we are going there.’
Carragher interrupted to add: ‘What was it when he lost his head? End of May? June?’
With fans curious as to why Richards apparently did so, the man himself asked Carragher to explain ‘what happened.’
‘I don’t know,’ Carragher said. ‘And you left the group in October. You must have had a long think about it.’ Richards then burst into laughter, as Scott said: ‘I wonder what the trigger was.’
It was hinted that the real reason why Richards left was because Liverpool won the Premier League ahead of Manchester City
Thierry Henry was left speechless as Kate Scott and Carragher questioned his colleague
Though the reason was never revealed, it appeared that the panel were referring to Liverpool winning the Premier League last season ahead of Manchester City.
Carragher, who played 737 times for Liverpool, is still a big fan of the club and is known to celebrate hard when the Reds enjoy success. Richards is an ex-Manchester City player.
City had won three Premier League titles on the bounce before last season, when Arne Slot led Liverpool to their second ever and 20th league title in the club’s history.
