Robert Sanchez DROPPED by Liam Rosenior: Chelsea boss wields the axe for crunch clash with Aston Villa

Robert Sanchez has been dropped by Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior for the Blues’ crunch Premier League clash with Aston Villa.

The goalkeeper is not thought to be injured as he has been named on the bench by Rosenior.

Filip Jorgensen has been chosen in place of Sanchez for the game at Villa Park, a vital match in the race for Champions League qualification.

Rosenior’s side are sixth, three points behind Liverpool in fifth and six adrift of Villa in fourth, but will leapfrog Arne Slot‘s men with a win on Wednesday night.

Sanchez has faced criticism for his performances this season and was blamed for Arsenal‘s second goal in Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat at the Emirates on Sunday.

Gary Neville described the Spaniard’s goalkeeping as ‘really poor’ after Jurrien Timber headed home from Declan Rice‘s corner.

‘Chelsea are asking for VAR but Sanchez is all over the place in my view,’ Neville said.

‘There’s not a chance of a foul. It’s really poor goalkeeping. Sanchez has had a really poor day. He got the flight of the ball wrong.’

Chelsea fans also blasted Sanchez for his role in Arsenal’s second goal in their 3-2 victory in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final in January.
