Tottenham injury crisis deepens as scans reveal severity of Mohammed Kudus’ issue, with forward joining six other stars on treatment table

Tottenham‘s injury crisis has deepened after Mohammed Kudus was ruled out for months following scans on his thigh.

Kudus, injured against Sunderland on Sunday, is not expected back until after the March internationals, which effectively means he will not return until April.

Rodrigo Bentancur has suffered a hamstring injury, which Frank admits is ‘a bigger one’ than they feared. Lucas Bergvall picked up a thigh muscle injury at Bournemouth which needs to be assessed.

Dejan Kulusevski, who damaged a kneecap in May and was initially on course to return in December, has been feeling pain in his recovery training and undergone a course of injections.

‘The most important thing is to remove the pain in the knee,’ said Frank.

‘He (Kulusevski) got an injection to help that 10 days ago, and we will know in three to four weeks if it has settled and when it’s settled hopefully he will be on the grass and from there we’ll see what’s happening.

Mohammed Kudus has been ruled out of action until April with a thigh injury

‘We know it’s a complicated injury. If there’s one person that can accelerate that, it is Dejan. He’s a top pro and has a top mentality.’

Injuries, especially in forward areas, are taking a strain ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup tie at home against Aston Villa.

James Maddison is still recovering from a cruciate knee injury and unlikely to play much before the end of the season.

Dominic Solanke and Destiny Udogie are making better progress but still not about to return, while Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma are on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.

It casts fresh doubt on the wisdom of being in such a rush to sell Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace for £35million last week, which is perhaps one of the incidents Romero had in his mind when he took to social media.
